WCPD Foundation

The WCPD Foundation was created as a public foundation to assist our clients and their favourite charities with philanthropic planning and execution. The donation of public company flow-through shares is the most tax efficient for donors, although it can be complicated for charities to receive these unique shares. The WCPD Foundation of course also accepts donations of all publicly traded shares from donors, whether or not they are flow-through shares.

Advantages of the WCPD Foundation:

• - The WCPD Foundation receives the donation of shares, sells them for cash, provides the charitable tax receipt, and places the cash proceeds in a "donor-advised" fund maintained within the WCPD Foundation. The donors may direct the WCPD Foundation to make cash disbursements from their donor-advised fund, to as many qualified charitable donees as they wish, including private foundations. Donations have no minimum size requirement. All recognition of the gift will be for the donor, not the WCPD Foundation (unless donor requests the gift to be anonymous).
• - Since donors have their own fund within the "umbrella" of the WCPD Foundation, if they wish, donors can name their fund for branding and recognition purposes, (e.g. Susan Smith Foundation, or Smith Family Foundation).
• - Donors can take their time distributing the gifts while the cash remains deposited in their donor-advised fund. Upon a donor's direction, funds can be disbursed to their charity within 24 hours.
• - We specialize in the purchase and donation of flow-through shares; therefore we are able to efficiently handle all transactions involving these shares, saving time for both the donor and their charity.
• - Foundations can be time consuming and complicated to maintain. WCPD Foundation does all the work, including government and tax filings, and the donor essentially has all the benefits of their own "foundation" - including naming to enhance recognition - with none of the administrative hassles.
• - Unlike other public foundations, the WCPD Foundation does not charge fees. We provide this service for the benefit of our philanthropic clients. The Foundation's staff are all volunteers, which keeps the overhead low.
